Hello Bride-and-Groom-to-be and Welcome! This is such an exciting time for you! I’m Tina and I’m the girl behind the lens of Pure in Art Photography! I’m so excited that you found me and because I believe that getting to know my clients is the #1 way to ensure an awesome experience, I’d love to tell you a little about me! Here are a few things you should know!

  • Cody and I are college sweethearts, I was a cheerleader and he was a football player!

  • We’ve been married since August 9, 2008. (Best. Day. Ever.)

  • We have a beautiful baby girl, Kinsley Marie, and one spoiled puppy dog, Lincoln!

  • We live in Tucson, Arizona but call Kansas City home... can't beat that BBQ!

  • I'm a total foodie and love visiting the best local restaurants wherever I travel.

  • I started my photography business in 2009 right after graduating from college.

  • I shoot about 10-15 weddings a year to really focus on my client experience.

  • I may be (slightly) obsessed with gummy bears, toasted marshmallows & wedding cake.

  • My morning drink of choice is iced "coffee-milk" flavored with Starbucks vanilla syrup!

  • I like to make lists. And if something's not on there, I will write it… just to cross it off.

  • I am very involved in my local photography community and they are my best friends!

  • I love creating beautiful images, but more importantly, I love serving couples on one of the greatest days of their lives!!

My Background

I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas in 2008, where I had taken a couple photography courses and instantly fell in love with composition and the technical aspects of photography. I started incorporating what I had learned in my graphic design courses into photography, such as editing and design. A few months after I graduated, a couple I went to college with asked if I would shoot their engagement pictures and from that I quickly got referrals to photograph several families, children, weddings and engagements.

I started my own business, Pure in Art Photography, in January of 2011, evolving into a specialty of wedding and boudoir and I continue to love it every step of the way. My business has really taken off and it has been a blessing to be asked into the lives of my clients to capture who they are in this time of their life. I love everything about photography, from the first consultation where I get to meet and learn about my clients, to making people laugh, have fun, and show their true personalities during the shoot, and then handing them the final album or canvas to proudly display their new pictures in their home. I am always searching for new and creative shots & intimate moments that the average eye may miss.

I blend photojournalism with a contemporary style of relaxed & natural moments to tell your unique story. I attend several photography meetings and workshops every month with other local photographers and have learned to connect, grow, and push myself with the support of my new friends in this industry. I also run a freelance graphic design and logo illustration business. And ever since I had my daughter in July of 2015, I have really had a new perspective on the value of photography and how it truly is a glimpse into who we are at this moment of time.

It hasn’t been an easy road balancing everything in my life, it has required an immense amount of time, energy, and practice, but I know I would not be where I am today had it not been for this investment. I am a very goal-oriented and motivated person, and am super excited for what my future holds!

My Family

I live in Tucson, Arizona with my wonderful husband, Cody, who graduated in 2013 from the University of Kansas Medical School and is now doing his general surgery residency at the University of Arizona Medical Center. We had a beautiful baby girl, Kinsley Marie, in July 2015 and she lights up our world with her joyful smiles. And I can't forget our little Lincoln, my fluffy maltese. In my free time I enjoy cooking and baking, trying local restaurants, and spending time with my family... oh and anything involving a competition!  ;)
