connect with me
A midwestern girl who fell in love with the romance of the desert, I love ice cream, cooking for my friends, and loving people well.
hello, I'm tina!

The warm days and cool nights really make Spring in the desert one of the best times to get married in Tucson. Christa and Robby celebrated their outdoor wedding at the beautiful La Mariposa wedding venue in Tucson, Arizona. I photographed their friends Grace and Danny‘s wedding just a couple of weeks ago and got to see them there, so it made me even that much more excited to show up at their wedding day and see lots of familiar faces again! It was a relaxed, easy-going day starting with a warm embrace at Christa’s first look with her dad and then a rush of emotions during her first look with Robby. We were able to spend most of the day taking pictures of the two of them, their family, and friends before heading to the ceremony. First looks don’t take away from the moment you are walking down the aisle, as is evident by the joy on Christa’s face and the welling of anticipation from Robby. I like to say that you get two special moments of seeing each other for the “first” time instead of one because you will never be able to anticipate how you will feel when it’s actually time to get married! Plus you get to spend all day hanging out with your best friend 🙂
Seeing someone’s planning and color story play out once it comes to fruition on the wedding day is something I very much look forward to each time. Christa and Robby chose blush, dusty rose, ivory, and navy blue as their color theme with lots of greenery and champagne gold. I adore her mismatched, flowy chiffon bridesmaid dresses with varying shades of pink. Their florals were natural and organic, yet full of vibrancy. She wore her mother’s pearl necklace and grandmother’s bracelet. You will be able to feel the laughter going through their images and see how much they love to dance, as they ended the night with a sparkler tunnel followed by a spontaneous dance as their guests circled in around them.
Christa’s advice to other brides who are going through the wedding planning process is to “take a full month off of wedding planning to enjoy the season of being engaged as it can get stressful.” Having gone through my own engagement 11 years ago, I couldn’t echo this more. While of course, it’s important to get things done on your wedding to-do list, in the scheme of things you’re only engaged for a short time in your life. So SOAK IT UP! Live in the moment when you have that newly engaged “glow” about you and use this time to prepare for the rest of your lives together. Pre-marital counseling (and continuous marriage counseling, for that matter) has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for my own relationship with Cody. Take random date nights out together and forgo any and all talk about wedding planning… I promise it will bring you closer together when you just relax and enjoy being with each other. The best is truly yet to come!
Just a couple of my favorite Tucson wedding vendors to work with: Audria Abney on video and Mollee Fitzgerald with Peace of Mind Event Design! Christa is wearing gorgeous W Too wedding gown from J Bridal, hair and makeup by I Do Hair and Makeup Artistry, and florals by Eastland Alley! Also, make sure to note those stylish earrings that both Audria and Mollee are wearing, my new favorite jeweler and local artist, Sigfus Designs.
It is always a pleasure getting to see two of my favorite Pure in Art Sweethearts at the same wedding!! I photographed Grace & Danny’s wedding just two weeks before!
