Dear Cody: Happy 10 Year Anniversary
10 years ago today was one of the best聽days of my life… it was the day I got to say “I do” to my best friend. And it has been an honor to say “I do” to you every day since then. Read our wedding story here…
To commemorate our anniversary, here are 10 things I absolutely LOVE about you:
- When we are sharing a meal or a treat, you always let me have the last bite. And you never judge me when I聽almost always get dessert.
- You are an incredible聽dad to Kinsley and I can’t wait to see your face when we welcome our little boy to the world next month!
- I love how determined you are, pushing through hours on end of training, to strive for your goal of becoming a聽surgeon and supporting our family.
- You support me in my photography business and everything I pursue in life.
- Your goofy self, from being a magician to a self-proclaimed poker star.
- You take care of me when I am sick or struggling with health problems with such compassion and love.
- You have a strong Christian faith and putting your trust in God sets up the most beautiful foundation for our family.
- I love how close you are to your family and especially how much you love my crazy one!
- You always let me have “the triangle” of every slice of pizza and piece of cake.
- You are my favorite person to do life with!
Our first dance was Big and Rich’s “Lost in this Moment,” and every time I hear it, I am rushed back all of those feelings I felt on our wedding day!

I have been anticipating my gift to him for quite some time now and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out! One of both of our top two Love Languages is quality time so this will ensure we make sure to give that to one another! Next year I can share with you all of the cards I included so you can make one of your own 馃檪
One of my favorite events聽at weddings is when they have an anniversary dance… it’s where all of the couples slowly leave the dance floor, starting with less than 24 hours, going to 5, 10, 20+ years and beyond, leaving the couple who has been married the longest at the end. They are then instructed to give some sound advice to the newlyweds on how they have been able to pursue marriage and stay together for so long. The best piece of advice I’ve ever heard at the weddings I’ve photographed was this.聽It’s constantly in the back of my head and a reminder to always strive to be the best person I can be as an individual, as a mom, and especially as Cody’s wife.
