connect with me
A midwestern girl who fell in love with the romance of the desert, I love ice cream, cooking for my friends, and loving people well.
hello, I'm tina!
October 30, 2017
This time last year, we went for hike up on Mt. Lemmon for Eric and Mandi’s sweetheart session where we encountered a stunning backdrop of golden and orange foliage. And since fall is their favorite season of the year, it was only fitting that their wedding palette also be composed of crimson red, burnt orange, and sunflower yellow to accent their “fall oasis in the desert” theme.
When we arrived to her friend Vanessa’s home getting ready photos, Mandi had all her details so thoughtfully gathered making it easy to start off the day and get my creative juices flowing. She even had some spare fall leaves from the flower girl’s basket to really help tie in all of the elements. They got married on a Friday evening at the church Mandi grew up in, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, in Tucson, Arizona. It has an incredible view of the Catalina and Rincon Mountains and is adorned with Oxford style archways, large bay windows, and along with beautiful wood elements. They had their first look next to one of the arch hallways and it goes down as one of the most joyful smile reactions I’ve ever had from one of my grooms! These two got to spend the rest of the afternoon together touring the wedding venue for their romantic pictures and photos with their bridal party, all before their ceremony even began!
October is my favorite time of year for outdoor wedding receptions because it’s still a little warm out during the day, but then it cools off to the perfect temperature at night. The reception decor was a family effort lead by her talented mom, Alissa, who transformed the outdoor courtyard into a chic eclectic fall garden party with no detail left unfinished. There was even twinkly string lights draped across every tree to provide an extra bit of sparkle and depth for all of their dancing photos. And my favorite part (of course) was the pie bar, where they had homemade pies of every kind… apple, chocolate cream, pumpkin, and carrot cake, YUM!
One of my favorite things they told me that also encouraged me in my own marriage was, “even on our most exhausting days, we come home and make a point to share in each other’s day.” Thank you Eric and Mandi for choosing to have me witness the celebration of your love! I have really enjoyed exploring this season of life with you and meeting all your friends and family who are there to support your marriage.
