connect with me
A midwestern girl who fell in love with the romance of the desert, I love ice cream, cooking for my friends, and loving people well.
hello, I'm tina!

This was the second wedding styled shoot I had the honor of leading at one of my favorite annual conferences for photographers and creatives called Showit United. During this Citrus-Inspired Wedding Styled Shoot that took place in Phoenix, Arizona, I focused on teaching how to capture bridal, groom, and reception wedding details quickly and efficiently so photographers could get back to the priceless, candid moments that really matter to couples on their wedding day – and did we have the most beautiful details for these participants to shoot, or what!?
The inspiration behind these bold, bright colored images is the undeniable beauty and underestimated amount of color, that can be found in the desert. In particular, Peace of Mind Events wanted to highlight one of Arizona’s 5 C’s, Citrus. The bright yellows, punchy pinks, and orange accents worked beautifully against the sage green and copper browns of the Sonoran desert backdrop.
We had never before dreamed of a bright, buttery yellow wedding cake, and now it is all we can think about! Eat. Cake. Love. blessed us with two, gorgeous cakes for this shoot. The floral and fruity accents provided a great contrast to their smooth and creamy textures.
The bridal jewelry provided by J Bridal Boutique was given the perfect platform for the detail shots with fresh fruit slices, signature drink “escort cards” and a custom-designed invitation suite from Kirkwood Lettering, with hand-lettered envelopes and place cards. The bridal bouquet, provided by Element Design & Events, was a stunning mixture bright pink peonies, craspedia and tropical ginger, which took the volume of color up another level!
Our stunning models, Anna and Ryan, real-life couple and photographers behind Refuge Photography, were just as sweet as they were beautiful. Makeup by Drai blew us away with a bold, hot pink lip that matched the natural bougainvillea growing in the desert perfectly and had our bride looking flawless. The custom-designed suit made by FELLOW Menswear and the Hayley Paige gown selected by J Bridal Boutique continued in our theme of “bold choices” with a unique, large pattern that encompassed the dress. A simple veil completed the look, with a surprise hot pink velvet pump, for one last pop of color.
